 The American Southwest is considered by many walkers to be one of the world's prime destinations for scenery, weather and trail variety. Many sensational world famous national parks, such as Zion, Bryce Canyon and Grand Canyon are found here. On this well planned self-drive and self-guided itinerary our route book will help guide you to the parks and their famous trails, all selected for their outstanding scenery. Each day various hiking choices are suggested; choose from easy strolls to harder walks, or select rambles ideal for photography. At night, hotels are conveniently located, normally close to the park entrances.
From Las Vegas drive through the dry Mojave Desert to nearby Zion NP famous for its deep narrow valley cut into dark red sandstone. The hiking choices are endless, but we recommend a scramble up Angel's Landing for outstanding views. Then drive to Bryce Canyon, a fairyland of rock with delicate towers of soft eroded mud stone glowing in hues of red, pink and purple! Following Highway 12 over petrified sand dunes with vast views into the desert, discover a desert waterfall at Calf Creek on the way to Canyonlands National Park. Here you can squeeze through slot canyons and hike the arches and cliffs, then continue to Moab, nestled in a red valley below cliffs on the shores of the Colorado River where the hiking options are endless. We suggest superb walks in Arches NP before driving via the San Juan Mountains, to explore the South Western section of Colorado. This part of the Rockies is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful mountain sceneries in the USA. Continue on to Mesa Verde, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, protecting 1000-year-old cliff dwellings. Try a ranger led walk or shorter hikes along the ruins and spectacular mesa tops. A late afternoon drive brings you to Canyon de Chelly, on the Navajo Reservation, a national park that protects two deep canyons full of cliff dwellings and outstanding rock art. Next you reach the great Monument Valley, then continue to Page on Lake Powell and to Antelope Slot Canyon - a dream for photographers. Continue to Grand Canyon NP for sunset. You now have all day to explore and hike the south rim of one of the world's most amazing sights. Drive along Route 66 to Laughlin, for your last night on the road before returning to Las Vegas.

Mesa Verde NP. 2 nights at Canyon de Chelly NP. before heading to
Page by Lake Powell for a night. Days 12 and 13 are at the Grand Canyon
NP. The last hotel night is in Laughlin. On day 15 fly from Las Vegas arriving in London on the morning of day 16.

Room only basis in at least 3* standard hotels and motels, some based in the national parks themselves. All rooms have ensuite facilities. Choose your own breakfast menu and you will be free to organise your own dinners from the wide choice of restaurants.
