A Tibetan adventure journey with the opportunity of a non technical trek up the East Rongbuk Glacier to Advanced Everest Base Camp and to visit some of the classic Buddhist sites of this remarkable land!

With an average altitude in excess of 3500m, Tibet can truly be described as the roof of the world. Lying to the north of the great Himalayan range, much of the country is high-altitude desert. With its spectacular mountain scenery and rich Buddhist culture, Tibet is indeed a remarkable place to visit. From Kathmandu this exciting tour starts with a Flight to Lhasa and then an overland journey and trek through some of the most amazing landscapes on Earth. The country is speckled with small settlements and nomadic herdsmen amidst wide arid plains all with awe-inspiring mountain peaks as a backdrop. There is a wealth of culture to experience in the towns we pass through: 3 nights are spent in Lhasa, in the centre of the old city , allowing time for acclimatisation and easy access to the city’s main attractions - the Potala Palace and the Jokhang Temple. Leaving here in our Toyota Landcruiser 4 wheel drive, we’ll set off through thecountry, staying in the best traditional hotels Tibet has to offer. In the towns of Gyantse and Shigatse we explore further monasteries and appreciate more of the Buddhist culture. The highlight of this trip for most is the 6 day trek to Everest Base Camp and then up to camp 3 at 6340 meters, via the East Rongbuk glacier. Here the sheer grandeur of Everest’s north face you have to see to believe. This trek takes you as close to the summit of Everest as any non climber can go.
