Escorted Trekking Tour of Annapurna Sanctuary

Trekking into the Sacred Mountain Cirque

The Annapurna Himal contains 9 peaks over 7000m within a distance of 40km and easily approached on foot from trail heads close to Pokhara. The Annapurna Sanctuary is almost surrounded by a horseshoe of the highest of these peaks, Annapurna (8091m), Annapurna II (7555m), Annapurna South (7219m), Machhapuchhare (6993m) and Hiunchuli (6441m). It is a truly awesome spectacle.

This trek visits one of the most beautiful valleys in Nepal in the heart of the Annapurnas. Starting near Pokhara, Machhapuchhare dominates the horizon and watches over trekkers as they progress through splendid countryside to Landrung. From here there is an outstanding view of Annapurna South. The trek continues up the Modi Khola, beyond Chomron, the last village of the valley, heading north through dense bamboo forest to emerge above the tree line. To enter the Sanctuary pass through a narrow canyon, the ‘gate’, formed by the near sheer lower flanks of Machhapuchhare and Hiunchuli. Once inside the Sanctuary there is a 360° vista of majestic glacial mountains, a spectacle hard to beat on any non-technical route in the Himalaya.
