VIENNA TO PRAGUE
Cycling Through Moravian and Southern Bohemia
This cycling tour links two of the most culturally and historically significant cities in the World. You will have time to immerse yourself in a world of architecture, where the Baroque and classical styles mix and mingle with older
gothic and younger neo gothic and ‘Cubist’ styles. From Austria the tour takes you over gently rolling terrain and through Moravia, Southern Bohemia - some of the most romantic and most beautiful parts of the Czech Republic; including the castle towns of Telc, Cesky
Krumlov and eventually on to Prague, a capital of dreams.
Your first days cycling after arriving in Vienna takes you through Herrnbaumgarten to the border crossing with the Czech Republic and the town of Valtice. From Valtice you have a choice of circular rides allowing you to explore the surrounding countryside at your own pace. On the fourth day you cycle over the Czech Moravian highlands to Telc where you spend the next two nights.
On a circular ride, you will explore the beauty of the rolling hills, visiting the castle at Rostejn, hidden in the forests, part of a World Heritage Site. Then you travel to Trebon, in the south Bohemia Basin where the regional cuisine uses much of the excellent local fish. Fine beers, which have been brewed here since early mediaeval times, are excellent
Your next stop is Cesky Krumlov an incredibly well preserved town on the banks of the River Vltava. It is an important historical town with a fantastic castle to visit, cobbled streets and squares. Cycle on to Hluboka Castle and to Pisek from where you are
transported to Prague. This – ‘The city of hundred spires’ is of course very popular with tourists, but the beauty and setting is overwhelming. Before departure on day 9 you can enjoy an optional half-day sightseeing tour visiting Prague Castle, The Lesser Town and crossing the Charles Bridge to see The Jewish Quarter and Old Town Square. The tour will take you to historic Wenceslas Square where the demonstrations that led to the ‘Velvet Revolution’ took place.

part of old Vienna, only a ten minute walk from the
